2012 JYC Activities

16 Nov - Sixty nine people attended the JYC Awards Banquet at the Officer's Club in Newport.  They enjoyed a buffet dinner, carved beef and a lively DJ providing lots of dancing.  The 2013 officers were sworn in and the racing and yacht club awards were given out.

30 Sep - Another racing season is done.  Hope to see you at the awards in November.

30 Aug - Amendment 1 to the Race Sailing Instructions has been posted.

22 Aug - Pictures are now posted on the Race Page for participating boats (that I have pictures for that is).

13 Aug - The Fools' Rules Regatta was held Sunday the 12th and the results are posted.

10 Aug - The Fools' Rules Regatta has been postponed to the rain date 12 August, same time, same place.

10 Aug - There is a potential for the Fools' Rules to be delayed to the rain date.  Chris Powell is expecting to make a decision by 6pm today and they said that they can be contacted at their telephone number: 401-423-1492 for updates today and tomorrow after 6AM.

1 Aug - The JYC/CYC Challenge is canceled.

31 July - 14 boats braved the rain and raced the Crew Rotation Race.

18 July -  The Annual Cruise Itinerary is posted.

13 June - The Spring Series results are now posted.  Sorry about that.  The summer series started last night with 34 boats participating.  The rain held off till we were finished.  Isn't that wonderful.

15 May - Talk about wet and breezy!  And we were in a dry spell!  Spring Race #2 is in the books (wet) now.

10 May - Finally the results are posted.  Sorry about that, we had start up problems.

1 May - The 2012 Race Book has been made available for downloading now (pdf).  The 2012 Race Entry Form has been updated (docx, pdf)

25 April -  The 2012 Race Entry Form has been made available for downloading.  The Race Circular will be posted as soon as it becomes available.

30 March - The Pot Luck Supper was held Friday night.  Everyone, 45-50 people, brought food and it turned out to be a great evening and get together for JYC members. Pictures from Kate Shuy.

7 February - The following is from Fred Bartlett:  "A beautiful Feb. clear, calm and moonlit “Jamestown Night” welcomed 65 folks to the new Jamestown FISH restaurant for our Winter Dinner. A complimentary glass of “bubbly” for everyone as they entered FISH set the stage for a great evening of fine dining and renewing friendships. Thanks to all the FISH staff for a great night!"

31 January - Dark & Stormy Night at the Narragansett Cafe.

22 January - What are the odds that 5 people from Jamestown would run into each other at a barbeque on the beach of Portsmouth, Dominica in the Caribbean?  The Buckleys, Pyles and Roy Guay ran into each other at the weekly Sunday night barbeque put on by the local businesses.  The Buckleys have been spending the winters around the islands since 2007 and the Pyles since 2008.  I was there for two weeks on a friends boat.  And we all just happened to meet in the same place at the same time.
